Meet Lucy!

She's the newest addition to our family! Her name is Lucy, and we adopted her today after work. Isn't she sweet?

Hubby and I have been talking about getting a pet for awhile. We decided to wait until all the Christmas bustle was over, with all the traveling we did it would have been too hard to try to adopt a pet. Here she is looking all prim and proper. She seems to be a very sweet cat--very willing to let us hold her and play with her.

We were waiting to see another kitten when she and her sisters were brought in. We knew she would be scooped up quickly, so we asked to see her instead. We're so glad we did! Look how teeny she is! She's only 3 months old.

We can't wait to bring her home! She will be spayed and have her vaccines at the beginning of next week, and then she's ours!

Christmas Wreath

Last Christmas my work held a Christmas wreath decorating contest--this year I thought I'd participate. I hadn't done wreaths before, but I figured, since I did my flowers in my wedding, it can't be that hard.

I think it came our really well. I chose the angel theme to mimic our Christmas tree, which is covered in angel ornaments I've received over the years from my Grandma.

AWOL

I've definitely been out of it lately. So many things going on and so little time. Here's a quick summary:

I got contacts (to be precise, a contact)! When my eye insurance plan kicked in in September, I hiked on over to my doctor to get it! I was so nervous at first, and I think it took me a half hour or so to finally get that stupid thing in, but I finally did it. Now I have no problem with it. I love being able to see without dealing with glasses! (For those who don't know, I have near perfect vision in my left eye. My right one, not so much.)

Job stuff is getting rather hectic. The work load has significantly increased, since the chairman of our department wants us to get many, many more samples. I try not to complain, though, since it's way better to be busy than bored. Oh, and on a happier note, I've worked at my current job for a whole year!

Lastly, family news. My parents came to town a few weekends ago for a visit. It was so wonderful to see them again. We spent Friday touring my office, which is quite a big place, going to the zoo, and spending some time at the Galleria. Saturday Hubby and I took them to see San Antonio. Mainly we toured the Riverwalk and saw the Alamo. Sunday we took them to church, then headed to Reliant Stadium to see the Texans play. They actually won. Can you believe it? Most importantly, I got to spend time with my parents. I miss them so much!

My brain is fried from work, so hopefully I'll be more lucid later. Hopefully I can get on the ball and start posting more!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Last week Hubby and I went downtown to Minute Maid Park to watch the Houston Astros take on the St. Louis Cardinals. It was such a great game. The Astros came back in the bottom of the 8th to be up 6-5, and they held them through the 9th. The cannons went off, the train blew its horn (Does any Houstonian know what the meaning of the train is?), and the fireworks popped. It was such a fantastic time.

It's amazing that you can enjoy a baseball game for $7 a ticket. This is the price for nosebleed seats at Minute Maid, but they were totally worth it. There is not a bad seat in the house. You can experience all the thrills and excitement without spending a bundle.

We went with our friends from Hubby's medical school. It's been great getting to know some people over the past year. Events such as the ball game can really help one open up and enjoy the company of others.
