Auf Wiedersehen!

I'm headed out to Atlanta after work today! Yay! I'm very happy. I'll be gone until July 9, so please don't expect me to be blogging much, if at all, until then.

Oh, I donated blood today. My arm still hurts, but it was worth it I think. Hopefully they put it to good use!

Hmmm, I guess that's all I can think of saying. Once again, have a great 4th!

Michigan

I've saved the most dear places for last.

Michigan to me is a place where I can get away from all the stress of normal life and enjoy the beautiful world God has given us. Here is a photo montage from our trip last year:

Here are Hubby and me on the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. The lake in the background is Glen Lake, where we rent a cabin.

My family. Julie and Tom weren't there last year, which was a real bummer. Julie and Tyler will be there this year, but we aren't sure about Tom yet. I'm so excited about seeing Julie again (it's been a year!) and I can't wait to get to know Tyler better.

Me and Mom. I miss my parents so much!

Me and my mom again, on the jet skis we rented last year. I'm so excited to ride them again this year! But I'm also a little nervous. Those babies go fast!

A scenic picture taken on Mackanac Island, one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in this country.

Well, next week I'll be there! I'll post pictures from this year when I get them. I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th!

A Small Bummer

Well, I got the bridesmaid's dress--I really, really like it, (and Ashley, your mom did a superb job sewing!) but it doesn't fit me very well. I think I'm going to get it altered here after I get back from vacation. The top is about 2-3 inches too big in the bust, but I think that should be very easy to fix. The skirt is a little big (and long) as well, but if I pin it at my natural waist I think it will be perfect. :-)

I'm so excited about being a bridesmaid! I think overall the dress looks awesome, and I can't wait to wear it! I'll post pictures of me in it once I have Hubby take some.

Oh, and vacation is only a few days away! I'm so ecstatic I think I might bust. I can't wait to see my family, get away from Houston, and just have some great fun. I'm leaving on Friday, and I'll be back on Sunday the 9th. I probably won't be blogging much, so I hope my dear readers don't miss me too much! :-)

The Dress Held Hostage

I got the bridesmaid's dress today!

At least, I think I did. I got a notice in the mail today saying that there is a package for me up in the apartment office, but when I got the notice, it was already 6:30 and the office was well past closed. And on top of that, they are closed on Sunday as well. Grrrrr. I guess I'll just have to go over there on Monday and get it.

Oh well.

The Cutest Kitty Ever (Besides Ashley's of Course)

Yesterday Hubby and I had dinner over at a friends house. I think I've mentioned it before, but it's a Dinner Club that we do with Hubby's med school friends and their wives. Anyway, we headed over to their apartment. I put the cheesecake I brought on the counter, and I heard Hubby say, "Oh, look" in a sing-songy voice. I turn around, and there is a teeny tiny kitten in the middle of the hallway floor. He couldn't have been more than 8 inches long. He was the most adorable kitten I think I've ever seen--he's white with a gray face and a few patches of gray as well. It had the biggest blue eyes. Our friends had found him outside and cleaned him up and brought him home. *sigh* I really, really want a kitty now. I'm working on Hubby. I figure I can wear him down sooner or later!

I just realized I have 3 posts in a row about weddings.

Congrats!

Julie and Tyler are engaged! May God bless you both in your journey ahead!

Missouri

The Wedding State.

I've only been to Missouri twice, and my first visit wasn't until I was almost out of college. Both times Hubby and I flew out to St. Louis, which I found to be a charming city. We had so much fun seeing the Gateway Arch, which has a Western Expansion museum dedicated to the explorations of Lewis and Clark. Although, Mark Twain wasn't too fond of the state--but since I've never been elsewhere in Missouri, I can't comment.

Mainly, though, Hubby and I were there for weddings, and both of them were beautiful and romantic. Hubby was a groomsman in one, and an usher in the other, and it was a great time for me since I got to see all my old Covenant friends. If only another Covenant friend would get married in the state!

Weddings, Reconnections, and the Search for the Perfect Chicken

What a busy weekend! Here's the summary:

Hubby and I were back in Dallas for a wedding for a family friend of his. It was such fun--the wedding was absolutely stunning, and it was great to see Hubby's family. We got to hang out with Stu's mom and sister most of the time, and his dad flew in on Sunday evening and took us out for dinner. It was great to see all of them! We felt a bit like weddding crashers, although we were invited. At the reception, Hubby and I waited for food, then left after we had had our fill at the magnificent buffet. Unfortunately, we forgot the camera, but maybe next time I'll be ready with pictures.

On Sunday afternoon, Hubby and I wanted to go to Bubba's, a local restaurant with the most amazing chicken, biscuits, and gravy I have ever had in my life. However, for some reason Hubby got lost in his own hometown, so we were tracing back and forth trying to locate the joint. Turns out we were on the wrong road all along. At least I got a nice tour of Highland Park and University Place, 2 districts in north Dallas.

It was definitely worth the tummyache to eat all that wonderfully fattening food.

Today at work I got an e-mail from Covenant about a new site that connects all the Covenant alum. I'm really ecstatic about it, since I've always regretted not keeping up with all my Covenant friends. Now I've got a second chance! The site includes a place to post pictures, e-mail friends, etc, to connect or reconnect as the case may be. I'm very excite to talk again with my old friends!

The Oil Flood

Yesterday Hubby noticed that there was oil all over the counter. He thought I had spilled something and asked if I could clean it up. I saw the oil on the counter, and then saw a drop fall from the cabinet above.

Oh snap.

I opened the cabinet, and the oil was running down the back of the shelves behind all of my baking supplies. I had to store the oil on its side, since the cabinet isn't tall enough. I hadn't screwed the lid on tight enough, so the oil was leaking. Everywhere.

*Sigh* I had to throw many things away, and it took forever to clean up. Needless to say, never again will I store oil like that!

Possible Taste of the Future

Hubby is still at work. He's been there since 7 this morning. He called and told me that he's watching a long surgery--but I really miss him! I'm hoping I don't miss him this much once he starts residency.

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to my baby sister, Lauren! She's what, 5 now? My she's getting old. ;-)

She's gonna be mad at me for stealing this from her blog! Oh well. :-)
